Be flexible with your dates. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays are usually the cheapest days of the week to travel. Also, flying during non-peak times of year, such as October through April to Paris, or April through October to Australia, can save you money.
Be flexible with your airports/cities. Check if flying into a different airport, perhaps even in a nearby city, is cheaper. For example, check Gatwick instead of Heathrow or Midway instead of O'Hare.

Madrid, the Spanish capital, is a great city break if you only have a few days for your trip to Spain. One of the first things you should do, weather permitting, is to have a cup of coffee sitting outside one of the cafes on the Plaza Mayor. This will allow you to people watch and soak in some Spanish atmosphere. As with most European capital cities, Madrid is home to some of the nation's best art collections and boasts three art galleries: Prado, Thyssen-Bornemisza and Reina Sofia, which are all must do places if you are interested in art. If shopping is more your thing, then the El Rastro flea market shouldn't be missed!

Unlike the more popular Madrid and Barcelona, there are fewer tourists who find their way to Seville. It's still a popular destination but you are more likely to find some authentic Spanish life here on your trip to Spain than in the tourist-orientated capital. Apart from the Spanish architecture in the city, here is a great place to get a taste of some traditional Spanish customs such as flamenco dancing and bullfighting - although as a spectator rather than participant!

For a more playful time on your trip to Spain make one of the Canary Islands your main, or only, destination choice. Here you will be able to spend hours relaxing on the beach, swimming or taking part in water activities, or socializing with other tourists. The nightlife in some of the Canary Island resorts can be loud and long, so if you prefer a quieter holiday make sure you book your accommodation a long way from the center of the nightlife activities. On the other hand if sleeping the day away after a night time of partying is your idea of a heavenly holiday - the beach/club scene at some of the trendier resorts will be your dream vacation!
