Lower East Side Tenement Museum: Tenement building (built in 1863) where some immigrants stayed upon first arrival to America. View apartments of families who lived there between 1878 - 1935 as they started out in bare minimum living conditions at the bottom of the economic ladder in America.

Greenwich Village: Vibrant, colorful section created by the convergence of musicians, artists, bohemians and NYU students. Located below 14th Street and west of Broadway in Manhattan.

Grand Central Station: Located in the heart of midtown. First opened in 1913. The nation's largest, busiest and perhaps grandest railway station. A rendezvous for hundreds of trains and subways. Over 150,000 commuters pass through here daily.

Times Square: Flashing neon billboards, streaming stock quotes and news, shifty sidewalk vendors and throngs of pedestrians. Formed by the intersection of Broadway, 7th Avenue, and 42nd Street, this square was named for New York Times building that formerly belonged there.

Empire State Building: The symbol of the city was constructed in only two years (1930 to 1931). Was at the time the tallest building in the world. Some predicted that 120 construction workers would die in this dangerous project, however only 5 men died, which is also low considering that 14 died building the The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.

Travel Experiences
New York, New York
My favorite place in NYC was the MoMA (Museum of Modern Art) in Manhattan. I especially remember seeing the room full of medieval armor and weapons. It was unbelievable, many of these metal, armor vests had perfectly engraved "coat of arms" on the front. The helmets were interesting in how they evolved throught eras in there designs.
