About San Diego
Located in Southern California, 120 miles south of Los Angeles, on the shore of the Pacific Ocean near the Mexican Border, San Diego is a city which blesses its citizens and visitors with fantastic year round weather and tranquil beachfront communities. Originally settled by Native Americans, San Diego was taken over by the Spanish in 1542 and later came under Mexican rule. Today, much of this rich heritage and tradition is reflected throughout the city in its architecture, food and style.

San Diego Zoo: (located in the Balboa Park area) Hands down the best zoo in the United States and arguably the best in the world, this zoo has over 4,000 animals of 800 species, including a simulated Asian rain forest.

Embarcadero: (Downtown) Cool seafood restaurants, shops, bars, harbor tours.

San Diego Wildlife Animal Park: (North County) 1,800 acre wildlife preserve with landscapes simulating African plains, Australian rain forests and Asian swamps. A railway takes you through on a guided tour.

Seaport Village: (Downtown) Restaurants, bars, shops on waterfront boardwalk amidst Spanish mission-style plazas.

La Jolla Cove: (La Jolla) Palm tree-lined park situated near cliffs with fun tide pools to explore.

I went to a San Diego Padre game there versus the Los Angeles Dodgers. The San Diego fans were very enthusiastic and spirited and reveled in their eventual victory over their big city neighbors.
