About Taiwan
Taiwan, located off the coast of China, is an island of diverse landscapes and culture. Taipei Tourism
Kong Miao (Taipei): Confucius temple dedicated to worshipping in a serene and peaceful environment. Every year in late September, the temple holds a traditional music and ceremonial costume celebration.

National Palace Museum (Taipei): Many Chinese artifacts where taken to Taiwan before the 1949 Communist Movement on the mainland and are housed in museums such as this. Displays some 6,000 works of art spanning 5,000 years of history. Has over 700,000 paintings, books and relics in vaults tunneled into mountain behind museum.

Sun Yatsen Memorial (Taipei): Honors the founder of Republic of China. 20 foot high bronze statue of him in the main lobby. Signature upward curving roof topped with dynamic, yellow tile.

Revolutionary Martyr's Shrine (Taipei): Ming-dynasty style memorial commemorates those who perished in the fight to establish Republic of China.

Fokuang Shan (northeast of Kaohsiung): Symbolic center of Buddhist practice consists of different ponds, bridges, footpaths, meditation areas and a magnificent 105 foot gold-colored Buddha, surrounded by 480 smaller statues.
